Taffy,

Thanks for visiting.  you need to get busy girl! With that storage space costing you every month, you need to be putting it to good use.

It's amazing how we get all enthusiastic and start new projects and can't get moving on them. I'm moving like a jet on something now because just as I thought, I have an interested publisher, so I have to edit in no time.

Your husband is not the only one laughing about a painting taking 3 months to dry.  Should it be in the Guiness world record?

Know what you mean

I do this too.  I decided I wanted to learn to do hairpin lace crochet.  I ordered a loom online & a pattern.  The loom came.  I was convinced I'd never learn how-but I did.  I learned how to use the loom.  Now my problem is finishing the original project I decided to start.  The loom, pattern & yarn are all sitting in a bag on the handle of the door.

My husband laughes at me because I was going to do like that one guy online & do a post card painting a day.  I managed to do ONE painting that took 3 months to dry.  My husband thinks that's a riot!! He can't believe that something the size of an index card could possibly take 3 months to dry--guess I used a little too much oil paint?

I'm still renting this storage space for $35 a month because I'm convinced I can use it for my "larger paintings."  I've yet to paint one thing!!! That space probably isn't large enough for the type of paintings I want to do.  Oh well.

Self Publishing
I don't know if you have a publisher or not but check out this Self Publishing site.  This guy is so funny.  I love his rants on Robert T. Kiyosaki, Rich Dad Poor Dad he'll have you rolling on the floor laughing.

John,
I know that I have had more than enough of a break and should get moving.  And I will.  Soon.

You know fine that worrying about doing something and feeling guilty about not doing it, is a lot worse than actually doing it - get working girl.

Malcolm, it is indeed a test of how badly
we want to achieve our goals and whether we are really serious about getting to where we want to be.   I want to have my first novel published, yet I know half of it still needs editing, so I have a choice to make.  Do I plod along and eventually get it done or do I just sit around not doing anything at all and hope something magical happens?  Without a doubt, I know what has to be done.  Doing it is the part where I'll have to apply myself.

Faholo,
You're quite welome.   I think that a goal of 'every few days' does give us the feeling that we're still in control and eases the pressure a little bit.

I can relate to this entirely
and have made this a year for doing rather than just thinking. I really do believe that it's about self-discipline but a real test of how much we really want something; we just have to face the consequences of the results we get.

Strange, but that is where I am on my third book!
I like the idea of setting a goal to do one chapter every few days, I think I will try it! Procrastination is sometimes a comforting feeling when I know that is what I am doing and just enjoy that feeling of being in control of something! Good post! Thanks for remidning me I need to do something today! faholo

OneTime,
That's a positive way to look at things.  I'll try going one chapter at a time.  Hopefully, I can start tomorrow.

MC56,
I guess I should take time to enjoy the journey rather than thinking about the fact that I haven't quite got to the end of it.  Thanks.

Word Smith.. I have these same procrastinating
tendencies.. I then beat myself up for not doing or finishing projects. I have found a way to be a little easier on myself though. I really try to realize and focus on what I HAVE accomplished.. If its half of a chore or 3/4's.. however much I've done. That instead of the "oh Ill never get this done". Sure I will.. in my time.

Ariala,
I know that sweet feeling of satisfaction, but I mostly achieve it on the job.

I think you're quite productive. I like getting things done just so I can
physically mark them off my list with a sharp pencil or permenant pen. LOL
