I envy you that experience, Decshak
I never got to see Brubeck in person. However I did get to see and hear Jimmy Smith live in Frankfort, Germany while I was in the service. It was one of my ambitions to see Jimmy perform again at his own jazz club. Alas, he died before I could make it out to California.

My dad took me to a live Brubeck concert in Cleveland where "Take 5" was
played. I'll never forget it....

Jive or Jazz, I think so. Maybe. Or was it Joe Johnson. Since it was crap it doesn't make any difference anyway.

I'm still fond of "Take Five," though I think Brubeck has done better. I guess it was the fact that it turned me on to jazz in the first place that makes me so fond of the song.

Does anyone remember Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jazz?
Or have I just made that up? Maybe it was Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive? It was crap, anyway.

Brubeck
Take Five seemed way out when I first heard it too, particularly the five to the bar rhythm. Curiously enough it now sounds a bit dated - and long! I have it on a CD we play in the car, and it seems just all a bit too much...
