and sometimes, that is where the greatest joy lies, not with the latest techo toy or million dollar house!

This post made me sad......
because I know that even in the most modest of living, in these United States; although we are lucky to even have the bare essentials, just paying rent, electricity and food, not to mention the luxury of having a telephone or cable TV;  just shelter, warmth & sustainance is near to impossible for a lot of people on minimum wage jobs.  I pray we could eliminate the 'Jones syndrome' and spread some comfort around in our own country somehow.  I pray we can judge others by character, morals & values and not by financial status.  I pray my adult children will someday be independent, lol..........so I can quit working overtime!  Amen

Julia
You have hit upon an important issue in our culture. We are very tied up in getting ahead and we overlook the simpler things.

presley--
maybe having enough to pay the bills with a little extra isn't a luxury so much as it is a "nicety"--?? haha, see the subtle difference in those two words?

Yes,

Money isn't everything,  Frankly I'll take a warm bed, bread and a good family in a small, modest home or apartment and let the rest of the world roll by.  Sounds like a song doesn't it.

Julia....so, as you said, our posts were a bit similar today!

Julia
I interpreted it the same as you did.  I admit, I appreciate the luxury of being able to pay my bills, shelter my family, and have a little left over to play with, but I certainly don't measure anyone's self worth based on their bank account!
