zephyr - I had my answer all prepared until I stopped in to check your
Blogit user profile.
It turns out that you have been around here longer than most, now I'm confused. .... In any event there is an answer to the original question. Blogging, despite all claims to the contrary, is a pastime that is very difficult to glean meaningful income from. This reality to a great extent removes the real players from the game, the extremely intelligent and the achievers will not engage to any great degree in an endeavor that can never be economically justified. So we begin with a pool of retirees, unemployed, shut ins, mental patients, those between opportunities, homemakers and those seeking life direction. .... at this point we merely have a cross section of those at the bottom of the social economic strata with a few exceptions thrown in to complete the variety.
The final factor is what it takes to have your blog noticed and read. If an individual wants to gain a readership in the blogasphere they must write what is in effect fuel for an almost non discriminating audience. In short they must begin to think and write like an idiot. If they weren't idiots before they started blogging, they surely will become one in time if they continue blogging.
Sadly I cannot except present company from this. ....we've both been here a long time.
