Hello, Joe!

I just came over to read...and comment! Thank you for your visits. You are full of great info over here! I will be back often, although I don't always take the time to comment.

Happy New Year!

Hi
I find that readership increases significantly when you comment on other blogs. I also make a point of visiting commentor's blogs and I think most people do the same.

Joe Love,
excellent points! In addition, I make a habit of acknowledging each comment! It doesn't take more than a 'thank you', but often I will comment on the comment. That may sometimes end up in a chat, but if I have the time, so be it...

Well defined tips Joe Love

I struggle with the time issue thing too, but if you want to be an involved member, it's a worthwhile investment. And commenting is fun, imo.

Cool new blog, btw!

Good points. Like a lot of things, "success" on Blogit really depends on how much time you have to devote to it. And I don't have all that much!!

a good guidance, joe.

Joe, all very true...one question though: when A blogger's comment section
suddenly becomes a chat room between bloggers A, B, and C, and 45 comments later they quit, are all those comments counted???? I have never been able to get this straight since joining Blogit...

Joe Love, yes I agree entirely. All of these points
served me well when I had time to be a more active member of the community and my ranking was very high. However,  I think that people should not feel obligated to comment. If they have time great. If not do as much as what works for them.  I sometimes get the impression that some want you to comment on everything you read  which is a significant ask of anyone. At the moment I give about 2.5 hours per week here.    If I felt obligated to comment on everything by everyone that I read, I would reluctantly have to leave.

In writing for publication I am accustomed to the idea that people will read me but I may never know who they are. Strangely however, one of the reasons I don't post here (apart from a hectic freelance career, novel writing,  studying, teaching, family, metavarsal work and play) is that I don't want to ask people to read me when I have little time to interact in return. So you see, in a way this burden of obligation has already driven me away.

My thoughts exactly!!
While there are days when my time is limited, I try to comment as much as possible. How else are they going to know what I thought? Most bloggers haven't graduated from the "School of Mind Readers." ;-)

Excellent post, Joe. And 100% on target.
As writers we're looking for feedback, even moreso than money. I have saved many of my blogs and the comments to a folder on my computer -- and have used comments to make changes in some stories. Thanks !!!

Joe...
Point well taken.  Another benefit, one gets ideas for posts in replies to comments.  More than once, a comment has been expanded into a blog and I'm sure I'm not alone.

hey joe - i was just scrolling through, looking for passionflower to ask
her about how to paste a clock onto my blog page, saw your post, stopped by for a visit to see you have a clock yourself.  the initial, seemingly simple suggestion from "help" says to cut and paste the html but it doesn't tell me where to paste it.  can you help me?  (and no getting cheeky on the where!)

Very benefitial post! Thanks for thinking of this information
which I believe the new bloggers who find it will appreciate knowing. It took me awhile to figure this out! You are appreciated, thanks!faholo

The real world is getting in the way of my entertainment!

Wifey
Real-world has been so busy the past few days that I haven't had much time for blogging.  I've barely had time to write something!

The main thing I don't like about other blog sites is lack

of interaction.  I come here specifically to see who is here today, raise a little hell in the comment sections and see how people that have become a part of my daily are doing.

How are you doing today Joe??  How are The Monster and the kids?
