Wifey. . , one thing to remember. . ,
the Grass is always Greener.  Think very carefully before deciding to operate a small business (contract labor).

Bel
Sounds like a lot to think about. You two may have some different options to explore there.

I-R,

First of all, I have one of those body clocks. I can't explain how they work, but in my case they work to within a minute. 17 minutes past 6? You got it! It's that sort of thing!

But I cannot stand alarm clocks! Years ago my wife, to be 'doubly sure' (not trusting me?) set an alarm clock for a specific occasion - it ended up on the floor, via the wall!

Yet I do like morning music, after I wake up! And I believe in the old adage that 'a day without Mozart is a day without sunshine.' Although I do like Pink Floyd as well...

I think it's a great idea! Go for it! I would have given you the same advice Pat B already gave you, but since she did, I don't have to, which makes my life easier (thank you, Pat!)!

Main thing is: get started. Take the first step, tomorrow, (well, tomorrow is Saturday, so let's say Monday, even if it's a small one...

Good luck with it...medical is so darned expensive..I think it's half the reason many people work in jobs they don't really like....just to keep insurance. Sure would be nice to have options...

The college in Quiet Town has a small business development center

that helps people create a plan and figure out all the ins and outs -- the risks, etc., and what their legal requirements are. There are workshops and one-on-one conferences, etc. I used to work with an outreach office at the Univ., which started the business development thing, and was also linked to all the local towns and chambers of commerce.

It might be very helpful to you and Carl, if he decides to go into business for himself, to see if such a service exists in your neck of the woods.  Chambers of commerce are usually affiliated with these centers -- who knows, you may even qualify for some kind of tax break for locating in a specific area. Also, there may be licensing or zoning regulations about working out of your home.  It's so much easier to make a go of things if you don't have to worry about running afoul of local bureaucracies.

Whatever you decide -- go for it!  :)

You are so good at writing you could do a brochure, advertising and keep his books. Book work is a must for the independent business person. If you need funding or any of that stuff you need all the numbers there. You two could do well it sounds like. I sure hope so, work is rough in MI from what I hear, sorry. I wish you both much success and blessing in whatever you do.

You seemed so switched on.
