Hear hear, TAPS. Think that's what the retired CEO is doing?
If so, that would be grand!!

I would absolutely adore having $200 million and the enjoyment of sharing that wealth with people in need.  I can't think of anything that would be more fun than being a genie or a faerie princess granting wishes.

Presley and faholo, it's simply hard to comprehend, eh?

$150,000 is definitely a more reasonable sum (albeit a handsome amount) but $200 million?  Beyond comprehension.

One article I read talked about the income of certain CEOs being approx 1 million per work day.  Hello, Houston?  I think we have a problem.

You certainly got a "gasp" out of me.  I, too, support an increase in the minimum wage.  My thoughts about the rich getting rich and the poor remaining poor:

"A person who gets ahead by opressing the poor or by showering gifts on the rich will end in poverty."  Proverbs 22:16  NLT

Obscene is the perfect word, Jane! Thanks for the reminder of
injustice in the work world. I have a relative who makes over a $100,000 a year and gets bonus's from $50,000 upward! A wonderful person, but it sure is more than my poverty level annual income. Your Scripture references were perfect as words to reenforce your point of inequality in the workplace. Take care! faholo

Julia, excellent point --
I love the old comic strip that shows a teacher and a nurse (and I forget who else) driving a BMW and Mercedes while a baseball player is driving a yugo (very cheap car) that's falling apart.  And the caption read something like "if people were paid what they're truly worth."  Amen?  Amen!

Janes--
While I'm sure that there are CEOs who add much value to a company, I'm also certain it isn't $200 million worth--frankly, that's obscene. Of course, it isn't any more obscene than the millions payed to actors or sports figures, imo.

Troosha, that is obscene and sick.
Thanks -- I think -- for sharing that.  No really, I agree with you that people with need to be doing more for people without.  It is not only biblical, it should be part of the human process.

Jane
I just read something yesterday about the income of Canadian CEOs. By January 2nd at Noon, the average CEO will have made as much money as the average working person in Canada makes in an entire year. Isn’t that disgusting! Great post, Jane. There is something seriously wrong with the “system” when the obscenely rich are not in some capacity offsetting the challenges and needs of the poorest of poor.
