Corbin,

sorry I didn't get around to this earlier!

As you know, I don’t like to comment too much on US domestic politics, but I agree with you that “Condi's appointment as VP would create a tidal wave of excitement that would sweep the inexperienced young Senator from Illinois out of the headlines”…

And yes, indeed, “Where's all the talk about the plans for troop withdrawals........the promise to fully implement the 9/11 Commission recommendations?” Last time I looked, they were talking about an increase! Not that that would necessarily be a bad decision, but it does sound different than the ‘withdrawal for election purposes'…

Castro? I suspect that his eventual demise will not lead to a radical shift in Cuban domestic or foreign policies. And, while I do feel sorry for the Cubans, in the larger scheme of things Cuba is about as important as the Toronto Islands

“2007 is not going to be a peaceful year; it's very naive of anyone to think otherwise......civil war in Gaza, insurgency in Iraq will be on the table.....” Check

“Islamofacist activity in Indonesia has started up again and will continue to increase.” Check

I am familiar with the ‘ijtihad’ movement, though do not expect much from it. But I am definitely looking forward to your post on it!

And I also agree that the French election is going to be extremely important...

You need to send your ideas to the President!
They are sound and smart. Dick Cheney may be an all right guy, but he is nothing but political baggage right now. Condi Rice would be better. We will see how the new Congress does. I fear we are worse off now than before. The Dems don't want to do what is right. They only want the power. They could care less about what ails America and such. Keep up the good writing.

Corbin, great writing, my friend!
I am hopeful for 2007 but primarily from the perspective that God rules in the affairs of man and nothing that happens in the world is outside of his providence.  Yeah, I know, old fashioned thinking . . . but that's my opinion!

Condi would be GREAT
Just look at her education that is enough to tell you this woman is smart and a go getter.  She is also much more personable that Cheney; though I will admit there are certain things about Cheney that I do like but Condi is more a woman of the people and much more approachable than Cheney.  I wish she would run in 08.
