You both have some interesting and excellent ideas about what to do with lotter winnings.  I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who would be interested in helping others.  I'm amazed at how many lottery winners go broke over a relatively short period of time by spending extravagantly on themselves and those more than willing to stroke their egos as long as the money holds out.

I'd set up an educational foundation
for academically qualified folks (especially grandkids) who haven't got the finances - it would cover tuition, books, rent, utilities and groceries for each quarter/semester the grantee made superior grades.  If there was more $$ I'd set up a business developing green housing in established neighborhoods -- tearing down old, inefficient barn-houses and replacing them with cozy, efficient places. I've got kids who love doing rehab but also have day jobs - this would give them a shot at building their own empire.

First and foremost, I would make proactive attempts to keep it out of the media!  I would then pay off all my family's personal debt with the exception of one guy who has had his personal debt repaid (on his behalf) one too many times.  I'd give him a lump sump equal to his current debt, but the bucks would start and stop there!  I would donate a tremendous amount to charity:  St. Jude, Make A Wish Foundating, The Victory Junction Gang, and local children's charities.  I would quit my job and form my own charities.  I would like to suprise strangers by handing them a $100 bill - just because!
