- Go to Intolerance Is Important Key For Writing Success OR Blood, Sweat And Tears
writing is agonizingly satisfying, once you go past all the hurdles...
When is good ever good enough i wonder? I try my best, but my best is not good enough. Perfectionism is a blessing and a curse. I agree with you, and your last line makes me think that perfection is an elusive goal. The 1930's olympic records now are the qualifying standards to enter the games...amazing. Does this happen with writing? It is a strange beast, language, you can never totally tame it, as it twists and turns with the times, and bends the rules beyond recognition.

What a great assessment of how we as writers work!
I really liked the sentence, sometimes we do not accept excellance. Sometimes I write and article and end up saying to myself this sounds stupid and then I get a phone call or a message telling me how the piece is! We are strange creatures at times. Merry Christmas Jazwof!

I can't force myself to post something here unless I'm satisfied it's the best I have to offer. From the headline to the last word, it has to meet my (overly) high standards of quality. No more than I'd leave home without my pants, my words won't leave until they are suitably presentable.

It’s so true that even those of us who are testing the writing waters have high standards. We set the bar for our self and anything less isn’t worth printing, posting, or saving. We tweak it until it meets our self imposed level of excellence.
