How true that the mood, the spirit, and the best of intentions that we extend during the Christmas season should prevail all year long.  In terms of #3 - I think people get depressed because they may have lost loved ones or, as you mentioned, they are alone and there is such pressure with being with family and eating a 22 lb turkey.  This experience is not available to many people.
