Passionflower, you can ascribe what motives you like to me
Of course I wanted the people who've had so much to say on this issue to
read the
idea I raised. I also wanted to take the focus away from
the discussions that have focused so closely and negatively on
individuals. What is the big deal about that?
If I wanted clicks so badly, I first would have tried posting more than three times in the past month ;-)

Passionflower, you'll need to elaborate on the word for people like me
We both want things to settle down but have completely different
approaches. You'll need to explain to me too how my post that raised
the idea of
a rapid suspension policy is in the same category as posts that
discuss individuals and speculate on their intentions and state of
mind? I don't understand how so many people can presume to know
what is going through the minds of others.
If we had a suspension policy that I posted about much of what happened recently would have been avoided.

Passionflower,
Your argument is ludicrous. I wasn't here - true, but I spent all of Tuesday reading everything available. I saw the viciousness. I saw the kindness. I agreed with Blogit's decision to ban.
You can ask me not to post on this (better than demanding it, as you've done elsewhere), but the answer's no. No, I will not shut up. This is not just about the weekend, this is about the state of Blogit that led to it. This is about the future.
Oh yes, there are 'bad guys' in this, but they were hidden in amongst many other innocents and helpers who got hurt. By saying 'all of US', you're trying to set me against a much larger group - you're trying to demonize me as a 'blamer' in the same way Corbin Dallas has done.
No-one disputes the hurt Blanche caused at the end. No-one disputes the banning. But everyone should be concerned about continuing the discussion on this. The discussion will decide whether we're a civilised society or a mob-led anarchy.

Azur...I appreciate your opinion...but I believe Dave is only
Expressing his opinion in order to keep the whole mess going...He loves to get into shouting matches with people. He's a bully. He doesn't care as much about who is right and who was harmed as much as he does about making his own voice heard loud and clear....
That's my opinion for what it's worth....it all comes down to motive...some of us just want to let it go and move forward and some want to keep harping simply because they love the sound of their own voice.
Again, IMO, Shelly Blackcat and Ariala never responded to her harrassments as severely as many others would have. They did try to get along.
They didn't just lay down and become someone's doormat. I hope you don't think they should have done that. You certainly wouldn't have and neither would anyone else around here.
She could have CHOSEN to leave them alone and they wouldn't have ever said a word about her or to her. She kept the shit stirred up bec something in HER
just could NOT let it go.

It is hideous when threats are made against you even when you know
logically
that those threats are groundless and such behavior is not to be
condoned. Before you say, I don't get it. I have experienced enough
bullying, stalking, all of it here to know how it makes you feel.
But
really, the demonizing of people that is occurring here is appalling
and has got to stop. There are people who Blanche despised and people
who despised her right back. Such feelings can be expressed in all
sorts of ways - aggressively, insidiously, occasionally or often.
It is somehow being cast here as all being one-sided and I
believe that is disingenous. Blanche's life unraveled in the past week
and all of the talk of terrorism seeks to do is demonize her. She is
plagued by her own demons far worse than any harm she can inflict on
any of us.
And now we see the start of Dave
being demonized because he is calling what he sees. Indeed, it
shows how seriously his words are taken if there is a request for him
not to post them. It seems incredible that people think others should shut up but keep talking themselves.
I believe that no one knew more than Blanche of the
challenges she faced and she did say more than once about how it made
her feel when people made light of mental illness. Unfortunately
her fears were not groundless. People do make light of it.

Passion
I love you dearly so before I even say this, I just wanted to clarify that:
It's interesting how many people misunderstand that people from small towns live with the same fears and concerns as anyone else, the difference is this: We learn to rely upon ourselves and our neighbors. I live in a town of 3000 yet we have meth labs going up all over the place, I live next door to one of the most abusive and scary human beings I have ever met, while we don't have many we have had locals murdered in the past few years in their own homes. I live close enough to the big city that I know only too well the dangers. We are seldom naive and most of us at one time lived in the bigger cities. I lived and around the Ann Arbor areas for a long time, I moved to the country in hopes of giving my children a safer place to go to school and I still lock my car door when I get in the car, I don't leave my home unlocked and I hide in the corner of the window as Pam waits for the bus because she needs to be independent and I need to know she is OK. We all try to escape the dangers of the city but in truth it never goes away. We aren't naive we are just a bit different from the big city because we make a point of knowing our neighbors, we take care of one another in these little towns and as much as I hate having a stinking cow block the road, I know who to go yell at when it happens because I know the damn cow!
I know to most small town people seem very removed from real life, but believe me we are very tuned in because we want to preserve our way of life and little by little we are losing it due to the crime that is finding it's way in.

to answer one question here...
about how I felt when I read the threat.... well, the moment I read that comment, it sent a cold chill down my spine. There was no laughter inside of me. No one in NYC would ever take that as a joke. This was a credible threat having come from someone who admittedly loathed me and had repeatedly lashed out and abused me for the last year. It didn't surprise me that she wished me dead, but yes, it scared the crap out of me.
Not once did I ever report her, but this was the final straw. I will tell you this much, if there was an ounce of my personal information on this website, I would have quit that very day. I still fear my for my friends that aren't as anonymous as me.
I do not intend to address this issue again. I'm planning to bury it and ignore as much as possible from this point forward, no matter what anyone says.

In the world we live in, you have to be on your guard all the time
From danger, Joe.
In my business I see people like you all the time. You live out in the 'burbs' where there's no real threat of crime and you quickly forget what a dangerous world we live in until some major storm comes and takes away everything you own and you're living down at the Red Cross shelter eating MRE's.
It's a big reality check. You suddenly remember that the whole world isn't going to bed with full tummies tonight.
Suddenly it dawns on you that alot of people have never owned their own home and never will. It makes you see the world the way it really is...not some "Norman Rockwell" view of it.
IN the real world, when someone with mental illness who has spent time in jail and in a psyche ward tells you that she's coming to your city to blow up the building where you work, you'd better damn well take it seriously!

I agree with David....
If someone did that to any one of us, we'd be very upset about it. Then for another blogger to come alone and defend her actions is unforgiveable.

Joe, I'm sure if the authorities saw that comment they look at it as
terrorism. Threating to blow up buildings and the people that are in them is not a game and should not be tolersted!

I guess I don't see your point Joe.....
I cared about Blanche...but she DID hate and badger Shelly, Offbeat, and BC for months before this incident.
At any time she could have backed off, stopped doing it, settled down, etc.
As far as the terrorism thing goes, none of us can say whether she's really capable of that...I don't think you or I know for sure. People climb towers at colleges and kill innocent students all the time these days.
People who were normal, average adults that no one suspected. Blanche has a history of mental illness plus she has been in jail. I think you have to take threats about blowing up a bdlg serious when they're uttered by someone with her history.

The issue is attacking others on this blog with profanity.
Not terrorism.

You're correct, Shellyb. There isn't an excuse for it.
None whatsoever.
However, I'm just questioning the marking up of an idle threat as a
terrorist threat, and how AFRAID those claiming it actually were.

Joe Love, I think some people were probably upset
I know blackcat probably was upset being called "blackcunt" and having heard that another blogger wishes she knew were she lived so she could get blown up.
Yes, one might see why someone could get upset by that.

Joe, I was very upset about the remarks she made to me...
I'm sorry, but she knew what she doing and she knew who she was attacking. I'm also very upset that she made that kind of threat to a fellow blogger and my friend. There was no excuse it for it!

Sorry for the typos on my comments by the way. My exclamation point
button is sticking on my keyboard, and though it doesn't effect the
other keys, just the thought of it sticking is causing me to
mistype. LOL

Joe, I guess everyone was shocked when she said that she
Wanted to come to NYC and blow up the bdlg where BC works. All of us get nervous about these sort of threats because of 9-11.

Why is "death threat" continually being the spin concerning this event?
Maybe 1 or 2 complaining to Blogit referred to "death threat", but I would say the reason she was banned was due to vulgarity.

But I thought if a few of us asked him to stop, he might listen. He's stubborn and bull-headed.

Bel, Dave said in his post that he had taken several hours
To read the posts of various bloggers so he could understand what happened. He didn't want to know the truth though.

I also considered her my friend
and to say the least it was painful to watch someone who has such a beautiful way with words breakdown to the point that instead of expressing her pain in a healthy way she inflicted pain on others. I do hope Dave takes the time to ask what really happened because even though I feel a great deal of compassion for Blanche what occured here had to be stopped as it had gotten completely out of control.

I don't really know what happened over the weekend
and I don't want to be seen as taking sides because I have no side to be on but my own but I do want to point out a couple things in this post.
First, what I'm learning about the weekend, I'm learning from this blog. So I'm confused. Do you want to let sleeping dogs lie or do want everyone else to leave it alone while you continue to go on about it? Be honest, this is part of the click game, isn't it? =)
Second, verbal assualts hurt? Between my police work and my security gig dealing with drunks, if I was hurt by every slur said to me, I'd be a quivering pile of tears by now.
