What I really hate is when my son is stuck between two bad apples and then brings the rot home to infect my sweet younger daughters.

Justi, 4pm today would be perfect!
And thanks for the anti-apple spoilage tips!!!! Makes perfect sense! That said, I just used my last batch of apples yesterday in making more sauce. My sis makes wonderful apple butter; I shall have to try that.

Jane's
That sounds wonderful. I have never put cinnamon in mine. I make apple butter and put cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and brown sugar. I usually put orange zest in my apple sauce. I am going to try what you said. As for the apples if you will wash them in soapy water after you find one spoiled and put them into a new container you will have less chance of more spoiling. The bacteria goes from one to the other this way it is gone. I want to come over for a cup of tea, apple sauce and ginger snaps. What would be a good time? LOL

Offbeats, I bet you were pretty darned entertaining for the nurses!!!
Freedom fries and apple sauce . . . . hmmmm, I think we're missing a few essential ingredients like steak and wine (or something along that line) but off to a GOOD start!

I think nurses are the most patient people carrying out an essential role within an often thankless environment. It's a professional worthy of all our respect....

Nautikos, my dear, it sounds as if you have quite a number of
stories to share that pertain to your nurse contacts. Just keep the rated R ones to yourself, alright??

I guess memories came flooding in, and I forgot all about the apples!
Even though feeding apples to horses is another favourite pastime of mine...

I have ALWAYS got long well with nurses, sometimes, in my student days, very well!

And this year again, because of my TvBTWSo business, I ran into a lot of nurses, and wihout exception they were all nice and we got on famously...

TAPS, I hope you enjoy your sauce!
(I guess one could get the wrong impression about the type of sauce, eh??? Isn't that a slang term for alcohol?)
There's nothing better than a pot of apples simmering on the stove and Handel's Messiah wafting through the house . . . .

I had to navigate the health care system first with my dad, then my mom, and now on my own behalf and I have only run into one problem with nurses. Most have been helpful and nice. Wish I had made sauce out of the hundreds of pounds I picked from my own trees. Quite a few went to waste. Well, not really. I fed them to the horses and gave some away.o

JanesOpinion, Your applesauce instructions are calling to me to follow them. I seldom make applesauce since I tend to eat my apple slices raw with a little peanutbutter on them or made into apple/celery/nut salad. But, I think I'll make a pot of your stuff. I also love cinnamon.
