Me too Tanga...
It IS a choice we each make. Although that choice is easier when you have a lovely home and family - It's a struggle for some of us, but I think it's a worthwhile struggle.

I choose to be thankful

Don't apologize Mysteria.

Christmas used to be a happy holiday for me when I had a family and all. But now it's just a grim reminder of what I lost.

I think we should initiate some kind of Christmas Alternative Celebration for people like you and me who dread the holiday and become depressed until after new years.

Me and you should get together and go to Costa Rica or something-

It's a sad time, but no more than other times really...It is a lot more
stressful though...I hate that part.  Also too I've noticed that people get robbed and stuff at a higher frequency.   For the sake of humanity we should outlaw x-mas.  It really sux, I end up buying crap for people that is pretty much meaningless cause my heart isn't into it lately at all.  It hasn't been for several years now...I am too much a stress case...maybe I should take up drugs or something...Might as well, I already have crazy mood swings, I might as well get high while I'm at it!  Gosh Passion... for you I wish for a warm house full of love and cool people and yummy stuff to smell and eat.. sorry for raving all over your page...then again i am a raving maniac!

Babe...my life changed and became sad 6 years ago.
So I relate to that. Someday, I would like to have a happy Christmas again like I once had...with friends and family and a house that's all decorated and smells good.

Christmas has become a non-event. All the old people have passed away or go south for the winter, and the family failed to produce a next generation. I used to decorate but I don't anymore because it makes my Jehovahs Witness friends uncomfortable. Relatives out west used to call on Christmas Eve but their lives changed and became sad so they don't call anymore. I see the community center board is trying to revive the community Christmas party but I'm out of the notion of celebrating Christmas. I have no one to shop for and no one shops for me.e

Sounds like a fun get-together Maggie...
That's great.

Good suggestion SoloWriter...
Did you mean God's Stocking or Richard's?????????

My grandchildren put our Christmas tree up this morning.  We took them to the Ogalby Winter Festival of Lights last night in Wheeling, WV - about an hour away - and to dinner and then we had them all day.  They had dinner here and just left. It's just been a great weekend.  I just love having them here, except when they fight (can't stand that), but there was none of that.

I'm sorry you have the Christmas blues, Passion.  I wish things were different for you, but I can't do anything for you.  Why don't you do some volunteer work, like Offbeats - that may prove rewarding for you.  Doesn't Richard have any Christmas decorations, or didn't you keep any from your house?  You could decorate the apartment and put up a little tree for the two of you.  Little things mean a lot.

Thanks for those lovely flowers AandB...
I used to have a rose bush that color. I think it was called a Peace Rose. I do agree that Christmas is more for kids but adults need to feel happy and loved during this time of year too.

I'm glad this year won't be so bad for you Blanche...

That's definitely something to be thankful for. Good luck and God bless.

This is a tricky time of year where the suicides and violent crimes increase.

X'mas is more for the kids. Adults have to pay, pay, pay, ....

Hope you will see improvement soon.

LOL...Thanks for the tip Joe...

I was actually going to search for asbestos ornaments that I could spray paint with a lead-based paint in an enclosed room with no ventilation.

That way I won't have to go thru this shit another year.

posted by Passionflower on December 3, 2006 at 12:53 PM | link to this | reply

yeah, I know, I've had pretty miserable holidays right up to last year.
M and I are not spending this one with my mother, or I'll become a lush, drinking just to get through the whole horrible debacle. Ifeel for you.  I have always called the 6 weeks between Thanksgiving and New Years when all my friends disappeared to be with families and I was alone, "The Bermuda Triangle".

I'm sorry I made you cry, Shelly...
I'll pray for both of us to have some hope or joy or laughter or maybe even LOVE of some sort...I hate to see us go thru another bleak, depressing Christmas where we can't wait till it's over.

posted by Passionflower on December 3, 2006 at 12:52 PM | link to this | reply

Just remember to use a lead-free spray paint . . . ,
especially if you have pets.

I know Blanche...I say that every year and every year
I somehow make it - I just wish for one fucking time...just one year...I could have a happy christmas like other people have. I guess it's too much to ask.

posted by Passionflower on December 3, 2006 at 12:50 PM | link to this | reply

LMAO Joe...You have quite the imagination.
I've got plenty of dustballs here but they aren't very Christmasy looking....maybe if I spray paint them???

posted by Passionflower on December 3, 2006 at 12:48 PM | link to this | reply

Wow, Passion! You made me feel Christmasy all over!!!! *grin*
Actually, I think Martha would make a strands of colored popcorn or Chritmas Quilts out of dustballs.  So, there's hope.

ALTHOUGH, I'm sure she would hand hand-picked her popcorn kernels from Brazil or used the dust bunnies she found beneath Laura Bush's bed during a visit at the White House.

Buck up, Passionflower, you'll get through this next month somehow

Thanks, I just now broke down crying after I read this post....

I'm choosing to spend Cristmas alone this time around.  It's been one hell of a year.  Hopefully, if I get the money I'm anticipating, I'll be on the road to somewhere, don't know where, yet. (maybe)  Will it be depressing?  Of course, but this is my choice, so be it.

Okay, I'm going back to crying my eyes out now.
