Key words, here, Scoop: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not
to their facts. Thanks for providing the source for that one (Moynihan), see, that's what differentiates you from 99% of the News writers here on the blog: you, Professor Peabody, Blogfllogger, and SaulRelative, and I all cite sources, mainstream respected journalists and newspapers.
You are a fair-minded man with a history of changing your stance when new facts comes to light, plus a substantial mililitary history in the Marines, which gives you credibility and standing on Iraq, imho. I respect your opinion. Corbin has blocked me and Professor Peabody for no greater offense than disagreeing and when he cannot provide facts he makes them up. You know that as well as I do.

Bless your heart, too, Kingmi, I'll pray for your enlightenment.
Look into the light, Boy, lol. You confuse me, I'm not sure what your political belieffs really are. Care to enlighten me. I promise not to bite, too hard, lol.

Blanche I agree with David1 on this,
as far as Corbin goes, I had him blocked once but I took it off awhile ago. I may not always agree with him but that is the way life goes. Corbin has his opinions but he always has his facts correct.
That is why I have always believed this quote;
"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts."
- Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan
I try to write the same way and consider myself a moderate middle of the road guy. I try to take a little from both sides.
A year or so ago I would have joined in on the "Blogit War of Words" but not any more, life is to short and we all have to learn to live and work together.

Exactly, SoloWriter, except that even if I don't consider someone a friend
(and that's a debatable term, on the internet, who are we all really? I would not know anyone here by name or sight, yet I do know writers by their styles and character over time (2 years on this site)). We spend a great deal of time together, and I came to care about many people here, more than I thought I would.
We share our griefs, joys, sorrows, illnesses, deepest fears and most painful truths, how can those of us who are kindred spirits not form a bond. I don't feel that for everyone on this site, but truthfully, I don't even wish Corbin or the Neocon writers, whom I most vehemently disagree with on political issues, any harm or misfortune, only to discuss and come to some understanding the most urgent issues of American life and politics today. I refuse to be shouted down, lynched metaphorically in effigy and silenced any longer, though. The Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh school of shock jock mockery has to stop, It serves no useful purpose and creates hostility and divisiveness on the blog, as well as shut down moderate and centrist views. I will nto be silent about this issue any longer.

I think that we writers are all friends, whether or not our opinions agree.
Think about it: What if we all agreed? There would be no more discussion. We would get bored with agreeing and go in search of something to write about.

LadyChardonnay, there is a war on, the country is on the verge of economic
and environmental disaster, it's too important not to care. Apathy kills, politics is too important to be left to the politicians of either party, they're screwing it up.
We the people get the govenment we deserve, so it's time to step up to the platge and get involved. I don't care so much about whether a person agrees wtih me or whether I'm 'right", as much as I care that people who've thought about their beliefs act on them. That's what makes this country the best in the world, and if we don't act, we'll lose our rights, freedoms and democracy and the world will have lost it's only experiment in democracy, the United States. We are the leader, the example, the standard the world looks to, we need to set a better example, than of the last 6 years.

LadyChardonnay, that is my point, there is room for diverse opinions, if we
are willing to reason and debate civilly the way it's done in academia, the courts and in the best newspapers. We can do this right, with no hurt feelngs if those of us who do care too much about the political future of the US and the world are willing to step up to the plate and really tell it like it is, with no bullshit.

David, I have tried to get along with said blogger, reason, etc but have
been blocked. You have been gone, you've missed most of what has transpired, so take that into account that there is more here than meets the eye and I am prepared to debate Corbin when he unblocks me and lets me discuss things intelligently on his blog, but that hasn't happened in 2 years, so why start now?

While I do applaud your thoughts on having "meaningful debate" on Blogit...
The post quickly turns into the same same kind of rant about another blogger and a personal point of political view that is way too typical of how these "discussions" usually end up in wars. Oh, and I know all too well, as I have been in a few of them.
I am not saying that you are wrong or right about this blogger (I don't know him that much), but anyone who has been here long enough can se what may just happen next.
Soon we can expect his post to come out as a retort to your own (with much the same words only spun to suit his own political point of view). This will be followed by a comments section on both posts which will read as if fashioned by professional "spin-doctors".
The end result will be fighting and bickering with zero give and take and less-than-zero accomplished!
If we are ever going to live up to the title of this post (Can't We All Just Get Along?) we better be ready to do just that! Otherwise......!
Oh, I never said I didn't agree with you!
