This winter thus far has been incredibly mild in Ohio... I cannot believe it!!In the 60's in the last week of November??? I said hummmm I wonder what's coming later?

Ice can actually be rougher than snow
Just this morning (as I write), they talked on the radio about patches of black ice, where you don't know you've hit ice until you slide on it (because it's the same color as the pavement, and there are no clues that you've hit ice). If I remember correctly, black ice was the cause of at least one accident this morning.

We don't get much snow in Memphis. A couple of inches can shut down the entire city and send people rushing to the supermarket for provisions as if it's doomsday. We usually get ice if we get anything at all. I especially hate that.
