Bhaskar...thanks for your weather info...I'm an avid weather watcher...
Probably due to my profession...And really enjoyed reading about your climate in that part of the world.

Yikes Ciel....that sounds so ominous!
How do people live in climates like that?

Thanks for these lovely photos Punday...

Yes, many people prayed that America would be spared this year and she was...thanks for all your prayers.

The lack of hurricanes DID ruin me financially though. I'm praying I won't have to file bankruptcy but I'm a strong woman and can survive it if that's God's will for me.

In the Pacific Northwest, they are always available---
we never put any clothes in deep storage, because any day of any month of the year, we could need them.

Remember we prayed to God to spare America harsh hurricanes. The H-season is

over....sorry for any losses anywhere here and abroad, but Praise God, this hurricane season gave all Americans a break. Thank you Jesus, my Lord. Amen.

Passion, It's cold up North. The upper reaches, Lahul Spiti in the Himalaya
is down to - 20*C. Down South, West and The East, the weather is warmer. Rajasthan, where I live is closer Kashmir. New Delhi and we have similar temps, the lowest hovering around 2-3*C. Some parts of Rajasthan, bordering Pakistan, goes below freezing point.

Guess I didn't realize it got that cold in India Bhaskar.
I hope you have a fireplace or central heat or something.

Troosha...wow! You're very prepared for winter.
That's a pretty extensive foul weather gear collection...LOL!

Offbeat...I'm afraid it's true.

We Dallasites have NO BUSINESS getting in our cars and trying to drive them on days like this...its crazy out there.

A Fed-Ex truck overturned on Stemmons Frwy this morning and the south bound side of the frwy is still closed. Another 18 wheeler just overturned on I-20.

We've had a hundred wrecks this morning in Dallas alone --- a dozen or so were serious accidents.

PF
For some reason I do keep a few winter clothes hanging around - which are not normally required where I live (although certainly more frequently than Dallas, I suspect).  I have a dated warm jacket, some wooly socks, gloves, serious boots, and a goofy looking hat which can be grabbed in a moments notice.  I had to grab them this week unfortunately.... but I was pleased with myself that they were there.

Hi PassionF, Cold and chilly winds. Am sitting huddled in 'warm clothes'.

Yeah I like my gloves and have several pairs. I can remember being in Dallas one Christmas in the mid nineties. It snowed and was 3 degree. I left Dallas for San Diego wearing a mink and arrived in 85 degree temps. The coat got in my way..Also I can remember the hotel coming to pick me up in the late 80's because we got an ice storm in big D. No one could drive and I dang sure wasn't taking my car out with a bunch of people who didn't know how to drive in those conditions. So I stayed at the hotel until the storm was over...at that time I worked for Hilton International..

LOL Whysper...I'm sure your sweetie loves you and wouldn't
Be anywhere else or with anyone else. Wish I could find someone like that.

I don't know where they came from, I don't know what I did to deserve them, secretly I think the gods are punishing my sweetie for some past mistakes.

I just know I'm so lucky to have her.  The rest is just fluff.

Tanga...I wouldn't either if I lived in Zambia.
I love those warm tropical climates. I just don't see the purpose for snow and ice - do you?

Corbin...Ha, ha, I'm sure he had somethng to do with it.

I'm stayin home. The highways here are a mess and the weather guy says it will only get worse as the day goes by.

PLus, I don't have nobody to fix me a yummy survival lunch and de-ice my windshield...LOL!

It's Al Gore's fault....his predictions scared off all of the hurricanes.....

Cool Comment Whysper...
I guess if I had a roaring fire, some hot cocoa and a sweetie, winter wouldn't be so bad. Where do you get those things? Is there a store or something??

Wow Blaggin...those sound like some great mittens...
I hope you get them.

Oh sure Bandana...if we could stay home all winter
and then mate in spring...woo-hoo!

Winter is just the gateway to Spring

I love the snow, I love the cold, I draw the line at ice, I have enough aches and pains without adding a splat on the prat to it.

Chocolate is THE survival food.  Tonight, I look forward to a simple fire in the fireplace, some hot cocoa, a good movie and my sweetie.

I love mittens!
This year I actually convinced my mum to buy me a pair of gloves for Christmas rather than risk her awful present-buying. I gave her the stock number and everything to ensure she gets the right pair.
They have cut off fingers and then a mitten part that goes over the fingers, but then folds back for when you need to use your fingers. And - the best part - they have a string between them to go through your sleeves!
How fantastically retro!!

Grateful

We had a cold snap here, too. It made me grateful for 3 things (in no particular order):

1) A decent, understanding HUMAN boss.  We closed early, opened late, and she even drove one employee home because she had 4-wheel drive and the employee didn't.  I remember working until 9 pm on September 11th, 2001.  Not a soul on the street, not a customer all day.  But the "bosses" said they would make their decisions based on "sound business principles".  Had they existed, that company would have stayed open late on the day Pearl Harbor was attacked.

2) My big, ugly 4WD truck.  I call her alternately "Big Bertha" or "Brunhilda".  But she stuck to the road while shiny new cars went sideways, backwards and into the ditch.  The best $1400 I ever spent.

3) My super terrific girlfriend, Blanche.  She not only prepared a survival package for me (with cordial cherries, Campbell's soup, bullion, hot chocolate, hash & tuna). Only a woman would consider chocolate a "survival food".  She also poured hot water on Big Bertha to melt the ice off the windshield.  She's going to clean up in the Christmas loot department this year!

My warmest item of clothing
consist of a raincoat. Do not even own a pair of gloves as it never gets that cold here

Such erratical weather!
However, I love winter. It would be my favorite weather if I could stay home and hybernate for three months (and mate in spring?!)

You definitely need gloves there, Blanche...
I would have a back-up pair as well. Walmart's got them cheap. Get gloves now!

Fur-lined gloves? I wish I had them right now! I may have to wait til
Christmas!  I had to have MG pick up a pair at the drugstore, cause I did not have any.. Gloves? We don't need gloves here! Brrr.
