Both parties have good points and bad- Offbeats
But it does feel more and more like nothing we say or think will make any difference in the broad scheme of things.

Well I am a Republican and I try to change right from wrong everyday. It's hard when you know your the minority. Most of my sisters are Democrats (thus the reason we have little to talk about) The two sisters I do have as Republican don't have brains so like you, I keep plugging away...Demes want more government assistant to collect on and Republicans want less (except in the case of my sisters)... All my children are Republicans and they earn their way. I am not saying all Democrats are the way I described, but both parties have their issues for sure. I can only write as it relates to my family...

Actually, I think offices should be filled by lottery.  Everyone should have an equal chance of being sent to Washington.  Normal people do a much better job of not mucking up my life, than the so called experts.

Whysper...SEe?? This is the reason politics is so messed up-

Intelligent men like you who know how IT SHOULD BE DONE won't get involved and run for office. We got rejects from mental health orgs, people with drug/flesh/ money problems running things. Weak men who won't make quality decisions and stick by them.

Why don't you run for mayor or something?

Republicrats and Demicons

I love to listen to opinions from both sides of this two headed monster.  There isn't a real enough difference between to the two to worry about, from my perspective.

From a morality standpoint, I find that most Demicon politicians are immoral, while the Rebuplicrats lean more into the un-ethical variety.

From a financial standpoint, the Demicons love to raise the taxes so they spend our money on whatever they care to, while the Repulicrats have a tendency to just borrow from our children to spend our money on whatever they care to.  The end result is the same.

The real loser is real people, who have morals and are sensible enough about handling their own money, yet shake their heads over the absolute waste in our government.

Term limits would eliminate the "career politicians", and a pair of constitutional ammendments would clean up the money spending.  The first would require that our government could not spend more than they collect in taxes, while the second would not allow un-related laws to be included in the same bill.

Add to this, my request for a law outlawing the use of another's name or image in a political add without there approval, and suddenly the elections become civil again, with the candidates reduced to discussing the issues at hand.  Oh my, they couldn't really do that could they?

But as to your opinion PF, it really does count, more than I could tell you.

Passion, judging by the responses to this blog
it's pretty clear your opinion counts for plenty. Also, most rational people agree with your good heart and intentions, even if they should disagree in some measure with your political stance. Please don't beam up yet. There have never been too many good people on the planet (or on Blogit, for that matter).  pat

I enjoy others opinions. Due to them being opinions, I do not have to agree all the time. It does give a bit of insight into others lives and a chance to reflect on one's own opinions and rethink them. So please continue offering the opinions

We lost sight of how we got where we were......we abandoned those values that gave us the power to correct things...we became infected with the very thing that brought the secular left down......gross levels of spending......and many among our representatives chose the wrong path when it comes to  ethical and moral values........we'll be back!  Sooner rather than later.

Blanche - I didn't say you hated me or vice versa...

Just that WE were once the majority and now we aren't. The president isn't responsible for telling the mayors and governors of states who need federal assistance to ask for it.

The president is only responsible for saying YES or NO once someone asks him for help. The governor, mayor and other local politicians are the ones responsible for the havoc and loss of life in New Orleans.

They knew that they were and ARE at fault, but quickly pointed their fingers at Bush bec they knew he would make a convenient scape goat. It seems to have worked.

Hi, Passionflower, I'm a Democrat, and I don't hate you cause you're a

Republican; in fact, I don't hate you at all.  I think that the Republicans, namely our fearless leader dropped the ball on the post-Katrina cleanup.  I know the Mayor of New Orleans is considered corrupt and the governor, whose name I can't remember supposedly did not call up the Guard fast enough or declare the state of Emergency fast enough.

But I"m not buying it, because I think it seems likely that the Administration does not play well with Democrats, that they left her twisting in the wind, to make political hay out of the suffering of New Orleans, for which I do dislike them.

Flying over New Orleans at 30,000 feet, a week after the hurricane hit, does not make most Americans feel loved.
