it doesn't bother me - but alot of people are uncomfortable
it happened in many restaurants I managed and the woman always covered it up - but it was the initial "exposure" that shocked people - just cover it up. a boob is a boob.  but if a man whipped out his penis - he would be arrested (after being questioned in my office).  hahaha

That is my only issue with this situation.  I do understand that the baby MUST be fed and if I had been able to have children, I probably would have breastfed as well.  I just think that things in general in society has become too much 'in your face" these days.  Instead of considering how the people around us might feel, we shove it down their throats.

I didn't know she made any attempt not to cover herself..I wonder why she wouldn't do that? Well if she wouldn't cover then maybe I would have to wonder about her too..

The lady was simply asked to use a blanket or something of the sort...she refused.  This is my issue with the whole thing and then a huge debate started in one of my groups which ended in bashing of women who don't breast feed and a blanket statement by one that said that these women should not be required to worry about discretion.  I'm sorry but there is a way to do things and in my face is not a way that I appreciate.

Pat

I am not expecting her to go to the restroom, I am asking for two things.

1. Warn me, so if it does make me uncomfortable, I can remove myself.

2. If you are in a public place cover what can be covered.

For some reason there seems to be an in your face attitude about breast feeding.  I am the first person to say that it's the best thing you can do for your baby, but there are some women who go out of their way to get a reaction when they do it.  Most are generally pretty sensitive to the fact that not everyone wants to see but the few that aren't make a great many people uncomfortable.

I don't think it should be a big deal...hey the baby was hungry!

Nipples are natural. We as a society are phobic about 'em.
Whether it's a Victoria's secret bra (designed to conceal nipples, btw) or a girls gone wild commercial, or a nursing mother on an airplane, we get all Chicken Little about 'em, flapping and squawking and stirring up the dust.  There's not much room in an airline toilet for a mother and baby to sit -- and lots of other passengers who might be inconvenienced if the facility were occupied.   Geez, Louise, what's the problem?
