In the first place,
The New York Times and papers like The Washington Post are as biased as they can get.  They are so involved in helping the liberal movement, it's absurd.  They back everything contrary to God's Word and put down anything that Christianity stands for.  You say you are a Christian but how can you support people who are in favor of everything the Bible says God is against?

As far as my father's home being auctioned off for back taxes.  The company only owed $150,000, which is a drop in the bucket for something like 200 or more employees spread over four states.  They auctioned off my parents' $3 million home for almost nothing to cover $150,000 plus maybe $50,000 to $100,000 in penalties.  And, my father wasn't the one who didn't pay the taxes, his controller didn't.  My father didn't know anything about it until the IRS contacted him.

And, the reason they did it is because they could.  The IRS is one of the most corrupt agencies in our government.  They've destroyed more lives simply because they have the power to do so.

You say you aren't naive, Blanche, but everything that you say says you are.

whimsy
I don't believe one word the TV news report. Nor do I believe half the rags out there...(The New York Times the most biased agenda driven paper in America) I do believe we have to have balance in news. As a result of todays agenda ridden broadcast news we are left to filter the truth on our own.

That is an awful story you tell about your family and I am sorry they did that to you. Of course your right...it's all about ratings my friend...bottom line ratings..

Whimsy, I am sorry if any injustice was done to your father and your family

You are so right that the tv does not get the news straight. I get my news from newspapers like the New York Times.  They do a much more thorough job of reporting facts, of which I am very capable of sorting fact from fiction.

If something smells fishy, it usually is.  If your father's business was auctioned off for back debts by the IRS, that is not a misrepresentation of facts, that is the truth, and I wonder why the IRS did that?  They do make examples of people, but why was he in that position, to have that many back taxes?
