Yes, it is at least unwise for a 13-year-old adolescent boy to have sex with a grown teacher. I differ from you, in the sense that I feel it's just as much molestation as if that same 13-year-old were a girl having sex with a grown male teacher. Think of the uproar if that were to happen; the girl would be seen as an innocent victim, and the man would be put on trial, possibly even having the book thrown at him. We had an incident like that happen not too long ago in Chicagoland; a Hinsdale Central High School teacher was put on trial for molesting his now-adult accuser. (Hinsdale Central is in Hinsdale, IL, a Chicago suburb.) The guy is at least without a job, and I don't remember the outcome of the trial. Only recently have women like Debra LaFave and Mary Kay LeTourneau (now Mary Kay Fualaau) gone on trial for similar actions. I believe that both male and female high-school teachers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for having sex with young adolescents of both genders (middle- and high-school students not yet of legal age to consent to sexual activity).

CFRB The Motts
on http://www.cfrb.com a Canadian radio station this married couple radio hosts, The Motts talked about this issue-male child care providers.  The woman was all for it the man said he was against it and if his male child wanted to do that he'd discourage it.  I see why.  It's a profession with a high risk.  I'm not sure what else I can say.  Sure people get molested by women as well-I suppose.  I should write about this myself.  I really don't think that a thirteen year old boy having sex with his grown teacher is molestation.  Unwise behavior, perhaps but molestation--I don't think so.  If that happens usually find a single parent mother characterizing the situation as her male child was molested.  I think if the male had been with his father he'd simply tell the child not to do it again & move on?  I could be wrong but that's how I feel about it.

Although we are all more alike than different...
That's no excuse for the Chester the Molester assumption. We can't just pre-judge a man as a molester grooming young victims solely because he seems to enjoy appropriate contact with young children.

I've never heard of "Chester the molestor", but well said.
I agree with you fully. In fact, everyone should be treated individually; we are all different.

Jemmie...

What mattered most to the people making the Chester the Molester remarks was conformity. Men just weren't allowed to be near small kids, much less to provide them with the care they deserve. In their opinion, it didn't really matter about this candidate's life; who cares if they ruined his reputation or chances at getting another job? All that mattered, to them at least, was that this candidate was not conforming to the norms society set out for men - one of which is that men are not allowed near small kids, nor are they allowed to treat children appropriately during direct contact. Any contact they have with small kids is, by the definition of the taunters, inappropriate contact.

This isn't a matter of canon law, as is the idea that men are the only ones eligible to become priests. Not allowing men near small kids is a social custom - a strongly-enforced social custom, but a custom nonetheless. It can be changed.

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately)...
I don't remember Chesty Morgan. But from what I've heard, you're right about something in general: Larry Flynt pushed the envelope of porn, or at least he had a reputation for doing so.

I hate to think . . .
I wonder what people who didn't know your friend, who overheard someone else call him "Chester the Molester" thought of him when they heard that.  Geez, what were those people thinking when they said that!?  They could have really ruined his life if the wrong ears heard them.
