I know, that is a very good thing to be grateful for. Especially when you're not feeling well.

Sunny
I can't afford to be ungrateful. I am not that rich to afford. By the way, we haven't talked for a while.

Blanche

Sarah has a gratitude journal as well, and it's discounted quite a bit at amazon. I think I may order one for myself.

It says it has inspirational quotes in it as well as the journal pages. Sounds nice.

Nope, Sunny, I haven't heard of that one, "Simple Abundance", by
Sarah Ben Breathnach, sounds good. I've made a note to myself to check Amazon. Thanks for the tip, Opraha's got some good books.

Blanche, you're very welcome.
It's good that you're past the tension now. I know how, in a relationship, it can make matters worse.

Have you read Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach?  That's were I originally learned about a gratitude journal and such, years ago while watching Oprah.

Cool, Sunnybeach, I hadn't heard of that, but I like the idea

because there are days when it's hard for me to think of something.  But I have to say that making that list this morning after you posted this, did really help turn things around for me. I was able to talk to my boyfriend in a reasonably friendly way so we could get past our tensions, and I'm actually looking forward to his getting off work instead of stressing and being mad.

Thanks again.

Blanche, yes, here in PA it's not so warm either.
A master list is a large list, prefferably of around 50-100 things that you can use and keep with your gratitude journal. It's for the days you're really down, and you can't think of anything to be grateful for.
It's so on these days, you can look at the list and chose some of those items to write for the day.
Mostly, very general things go on a master list. Things you may be grateful for all the time, but don't really think about often...like your ability to talk, or walk, your health, having a roof over your head, having a warm comfortable bed, having friends, etc.

So those days that you're just not feeling up to trying to think of things that you're grateful for, you have the list to help you.

Sunnybeach, today of all days, I really like your name, cause it is far

from sunny up north here.  I hope to be sitting on a beach in Mexico someday soon, sipping margaritas, so there's another item: possible travel in the future.

and, what is a "master list"?

Good list. Let me think about mine....

Shelly, that's one of the great reasons to have a gratitude journal,
for those days that you're not feeling so positive. It helps you stay focused on just what is important in your life.
Sorry you're having a bad day.
If you really wanted to make a gratitude journal, it's best to write a master list, on a day that you are feeling good.
There are even some online journals for this somewhere, I believe. I may have to look for one.

Sunny, LOL...I'm sorry, maybe I should be a little more positive? LOL
just not a good day for me...

Shelly
Um...ok, that's a start.
Sounds like someone needs to make a master list in the future.

The only things I'm grateful for right now is...
  1. My life (as in...not dead)
  2. Blogit

Blanche

Awesome!

You're right, it really does help, especially on those bad days. Sorry to hear that your day hasn't been it's best.

Congrats on that washer and dryer! I've never had to use the laundrymat, except in emergencies, and for really large items, but I used to go with a friend frequently, so I know how much of a hassle it is to go through.  Take Care.
Thanks for the heads up on the typo! I'm going to go fix it now.

Sunnybeach, I like the concept of the gratitude journal, and you're right

it helps.  I'm having a little bit of a day here, so this is probably a good thing for me to do, too, to change my attitude.

Here's my list:

1. I'm grateful that I have a reasonably good man in my life, one who at least generally attempts to be reasonable, accomodating and attentive, and listens to me (most of the time) when I tell him my feelings and attempts to work with me.

2.  I'm grateful that he just called so that we can work through the things that came up this morning and that we can make jokes to deflect the tension, so that I don't feel pressured to make his hair appointment for him anymore.

3.  I'm grateful the grocer in the store at the end of the block listened to me when I told him that I don't want to buy milk in a gallon size, because it spoils too quickly and that, please, as a favor to a regular customer, please order the half gallon size, so that I can just the right amount of milk in the house for my coffee and my boyfriend's cereal without buying too much and that, yes, I will pay the extra for the convenience. Thank you.

4.  I'm grateful, that although I'm irritated with Marycris, the hair stylist, who seems to be out of touch with her customers needs to reach her, and got irritated with me for disobeying her instructions and leaving a message on the salon answering machine, that I have other options, in a city of this size to go elsewhere, and that we, in a consumer society, have that freedom.

That's the beginning of my list, also, that I have a washer and dryer in my apartment for the first time in my life, so that I can do laundry without having to take it to a laundry room or laundromat.

5. Most of all, I'm grateful that the noisy neighbors with the screaming kid moved out so that I have peace and quiet.

So, yes, when you think about it, I have a lot to be grateful for
(oh, and by the way, pssst, don't look now, but you have a typo in your header, you forgot the "e" in "grateful, just an fyi).

Have a great day. Thanks for putting this out here, and I hope things are improving for you, too.
