I learned you were also into NaNo from your blogs. It's been very time consuming -- but productive and a lot of fun. The strangest fringe benefit so far is that it seems to have been conducive to more blogging lately. I was afraid it would cut severely into my blogging time. I'm hoping to gain enough discipline to continue writing at an expanded level in the future.

Although they call it National Novel Writing Month, it's not strictly necessary to write a traditional novel. Some of the participants are doing memoirs, a series of short stories, and thinly masked autobiographies. The main benefit seems to be forcing yourself to write now instead of putting it off. It's good training for any type of writing.

Congrats, onthe NaNo
I'm doing it too. Glad to hear you're perking right along. What a motivational tool! Makes it easier to say no to spider solitaire... :)

Notapoet, good luck wth Nanowrimo, I haven't tried it yet, but am curious.
Like you said, the aim seems to be to get as much down as possible. That seems like a good idea to me. I'm just not into writing a novel, but am impressed by the idea.
