- Go to Bush Did One Thing Right In Iraq
MountainClimber56,
Stop it! Please stop it! You nor Bush had any clue of life in Iraq, before, during or after Saddam Hussein! There is still no concept in America about Iraq outside of TV propaganda! Why Iraq was invaded is of little consequence right now! It was a crime! The justification and the results are secondary!

I can't help but laugh listening to all this talk about 'giving democracy' and 'the gift of democracy'.
America didn't present a 'gift', they bombed a country to smitherines in order to ensure that they could maintain a cheap oil supply. That country, Iraq, has by the most credible accounts paid with the lives of well over half a million people. Some of these were killed in factional fighting triggered by the U.S., but a very large number of them were killed by your beloved American combat soldiers.
Two days ago the American people made it clear that they reject the invasion and occupation of Iraq - not just the execution of the war but the principles behind the invasion itself.

I agree with Marie-Claire

democracy is a poisoned gift in a country like Iraq.
Democracy is a gift of wisdom not freedom, Iraq is not ready for a democracy, such nations have been under dictatorship for as I long as we have know democracy. Do you give a crystal glass to a bull in a China shop? Iraq is not ready for a democracy because they simply cannot handle it. America gave them nothing but false hope. Leave them alone to sort themselves out, give humanitarian aids to those poor people but keep out of their political affairs, what did Bush achieve in the end? Not a lot, just fuelled more anger. It takes time to get a nation to grow into sufficient maturity to handle democracy. You simply cannot give democracy any more than you can give a human being wisdom, wisdom is earned through time and learning, it is not imposed, it is offered, explained then slowly understood. Do you think getting rid of one dictator will suddenly bring democracy, you got to be kidding. It simply does not happen that way, those people will carry on fighting among each other as they have always done.
