MountainClimber, I am afraid that Christian people use the term "God's will" a little too loosely. According to the Bible, God's will always has to do with the hearts of man and man's obedience to God. Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done." God's kingdom comes in the heart of man. His will is done in the heart of man. When men's hearts are right with God, the State will be right with God. When we use the term loosely, it is either ego being manifest or a cop out for what we ourselves are lacking. You ask,
Has God's will been done again? Are you absolutely positive it was done last time? During the years you mentioned, did God's kingdom rule in the hearts of those who led our government...in the hearts of those praying for those leading our nation. How many were actually praying for those in authority? How did that number compare with those who were complaining about our leaders? You ask,
What is my role in helping my country move forward? It is the same that it has always been: to allow God's kingdom to rule in my heart and life and to pray for those in authority. When those two specifics are being met according to God's requirements, He will lead you into what more you can do. It is absolutely amazing what God can and will do through just one person who gets it right. Can you imagine what influence your church family could have on our world if each member allowed God's kingdom to rule in his heart and God's will to be done in his life.
