Blanche, in my almost 40 years I had not heard that expression.
Thanks for clarifying!!!!  And for sure I would not give that person my vote or confidence!

"Throwing someone under the bus", JanesOpinion is a figure of speech, it
means, for instance, in this case, that Christine Gregoire let her assistant "take the fall" (another figure of speech), for her; She showed no personal responsibilty for her actions, in other words. Her assistant became her scapegoat.

Odd but lovable, TAPS . . . .

Threw her assistant under the bus? Literally Blanche???
Or is that a figure of speech about which I am not aware?  Either way, certainly not someone I would want to trust to uphold the laws!!

Whacky, it takes a certain personality to run for politics --
and I sure don't have it!  More power to those who do, although that said, I wish there were term limits!!!!

I agree, JanesOpinion, I think that how a politician conducts himself or

herself personally and their ethics and integrity have a huge impact on how I view them personally and whether I would vote for them. I did not vote for Christine Gregoire, the Democratic governor of Washington, because, when she was Attorney General, she missed several key filing deadlines on cases and threw her assistant under the bus.

That's just wrong, she was responsible, and should have taken responsibilty.

It's true. All politics are personal. I know the phrase is "local"
but I, for one, try to vote for the good guys/gals.  I try to ignore the fact that some of the most successful criminals come on like nice guys, charmers all.  Wise of you to vote from a position of knowledge. :)

HI! I have always tried to vote for the person not the party.

It is getting more and more difficult to find a good candidate. Probably to be one too.

Justi, I would agree with you. Thanks for stopping in!

Jane's
I too voted a mixed ticket. I have seen so much pride, hate and get even stuff in order to get the vote I will never vote a straight ticket again. I am voting for the person and I am not sure we are not ready for a third party.
