At a recent dinner...
I sat next to Dr. Robert Oberto, JPL's Advanced Design Team manager, who has had a hand in many of the JPL deep space projects for the last decade. When I told him about the anti RPG stance of the Environmentalists as I described in my book, he filled me in on many details that had happened more recently.
The bottom line is that the "Greens" have cost the U.S. taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in the last twenty-five years. Yet like the aborted ship hijacking in Peru, the total effect on slowing or stopping any actual project has been minimal. I usually don't use the phrase "There should be a law...," but perhaps in this case I might make an exception – at least a way to force these idiots to pay for their mischief.
