Chrylann...Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I might post a portion of an email I sent to this man from India who had been pursuing me. I told him that he couldn't handle an American woman....We don't share! And we don't put up with bullshit like you're speaking of.
He told me the same thing: in his society a man can have 4 wives...woo-hoo! good for you! But I'm not going for it!

I married a man from Costa Rica in my late twenties. He was an extremely handsome, smooth talking ladies-man. He was only in his early twenties. Our cultural, religious and financial backgrounds were vast. The vast differences created many problems, but most importantly, he was raised in a country where men who could afford mistresses, kept mistresses, and he was extremely financial well off. It took me nearly six years to find out that he'd not only been married to two American woman before me, but after another ten years, has been married to two American woman after me. He's 42 and has been married six times, (one from CR prior to coming to the US) also. We share my step-son, so from him I've learned many things since our divorce over ten years ago. His father is still not a US citizen, wishing to remain a CR citizen enabling him to return to his home at any given moment. He's had to remain married in order to maintain his Visa. He had three affairs with other woman during our six years married and he's lost each wife in turn because his secret affairs were revealed. He has yet to find an American woman who will allow him a mistress. We communicate regularly because of my step-son. He only wishes to have an American wife who will understand that he can afford a mistress. That is his truth revealed. I attempted to explain to him that most successful, confident and independent American woman, do not feel it necessary to share a man with any other woman and when he learns 'this truth' he will understand why the compassionate, loving, confident woman that he chooses as wives (because I'm familiar with each, three of us attended my step-son's wedding together this summer). If he wants a woman who will agree to share him, he must set his standards somewhat lower and choose a wife of lower self-esteem who will value his 'manhood' and his money above all honesty and integrity and fidelity. Just my two-cents for what it's worth.

Yes, I have Passion. Many years ago, some 42 + my sister-in-law's sister (German) tried to get my husband to marry her so she could come to the states to be with my sister-in-law. Of course she wasn't my sister-in-law at that time because later I married my husband. He would not marry her for that reason. Have you got that, Passion?
Some times I wish she had got him. lol hahahaha Of course, I'm glad she didn't.

Offbeat...I think it's a cultural thing.
IN his country, women must be submissive. They don't stand up to or speak out to the men. This has no doubt caused the men of that country to mistakenly believe that the women are stupid.
This couldn't be further from the truth. I'm sure the women of that country are just as smart as the ones here. They just aren't allowed a voice so it's easy to get the impression that they're dumb.
Me and Lustor might play dumb just for fun sometimes, but we aren't. We're savvy gals who know what's going on.
