Go to STOP THE WARS!!

...yes, what I like about it is it takes you across to 'the other side' and shows that we all basically want the same things, and we'll all react in certain ways when we feel we're getting a raw deal. I can not understand why our so-called 'leaders' simply don't get this - or choose not to see it.
As another example, I heard an Afghani farmer on radio recently (via a translator). The West has a problem with him growing opium poppies which ultimately go to the heroin market. Our 'leaders' think it's a good idea to destroy the crops. What they don't see is this farmer's plight. basically, he has no clue about the end result of his poppies, but he does know a) his life is in danger if he refuses the demands of the drug guys to grow poppies, and b) the life of his entire family is at risk if the poppies go, as they're a great cash crop for him to feed his family, and there are no viable alternatives.
then, as he reasonably says, if anyone comes to destroy his livelihood and that of his family, he'll kill them, regardless of what uniform they're wearing.
Can we say he's wrong? How far would we go to protect our family?
Thanks for the comment!

Good post
That is one of the strongest and most elegant statements against the war that I've seen for a long time.
