I honestly don't see what the problem is. Kerry was clearly talking about the fact that the Iraq invasion has become a terrible political mess. If the students don't study hard they will end up in a similar mess.

Anyone who claims that Kerry was trying to threaten lazy students with a career in the army is being perverse.

After all - Kerry was a soldier, and knows a lot more about a career in the military than most of the people on Blogit.

Out of his element
How ironic is it that the comments that started out as a pathetic joke to the already converted led to such a laughable sideshow for the GOP.  And it is laughable.  What John Kerry needs to be forgiven for is trying to be something he is not: A clever personality.  What made Kerry as successful as he is certainly cannot be his humor.  This applies to each and everyone with a any kind of agenda, PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS!  John Kerry, even if the joke goes off without a hitch that time (as it did the several times he used the same exact speech before) it is not funny.  You are not funny.  Apologize for that and get back to work!  Then I have all the forgiveness you could want.
