Yes, but, there is that caveat, "if it's working properly"., Avant

I remember reading in the newspaper about a minor league baseball player dying of carbon monoxide poisoning from an improperly vented propane heater, I think.

Such a stupid way to go.

Yes. I don't remember many dreams, but I did that one. I think it was for a reason.

What an awful dream and it sounds like it felt very realistic too- I think dreams can be good warnings.  I had a goofy one last night- I dreamed that Jack Nicholson was asking me for health advice about his prostate.... geez, what a funny dream- totally goofy.

Personally, I think there is more of a danger of carbon monoxide from gas and fuel oil than fire. If your chimney is properly drafting, everything just goes straight up and the heat is dispersed.

Mrs Tanga
Yes, I do think that mismanaging fire causes a lot of breathing problems. Our electric heat pump just cannot keep up when the temps get under 35. So, for us, it is an essential source of warmth.

I think that's a good idea. What a frightening dream to wake from, but being careful will ensure that it does not occur in your waking state. our dreams are amazing in showing us the way, aren't they?

Avant, you're wise not to take any chances, in either illness or fires.
It's too much of a risk, and as Mrs. Tanga says, there is also the carbon monoxide.  Why risk it?   As for it being tough, so are you, lol, I'm sure you can handle it.

What a horrible dream. You probably wanted to hug your child when you

woke up and was probably so relieved that it was just a dream.  Wowy.  I am so glad we do not have to make fires, its just always way too hot and we do not need fires.  In winter we just cover ourselves with lots of blankets.  I don't believe in heaters or fires.  They are just too dangerous to have with young children around..and not just that they make you sick!

Your dream obviously shows
your great concern. It will be wise to follow this premonition. We are just too hot here to have fires, even in winter

You are right about self-fulfilling prophecy. I didn't dwell on this, other than to tell my wife that maybe we should be very careful this year, and only burn when special occasions arise.

Your dream was terrifying! I think after such a dream and knowing how active the boy's are that it would be wise to only have a fire when the whole family are in the same room. You are a concerned father and I'm sure your instints will guide you.

avant-garde...
If it is any consolation, I have had dreams for many years of something happening to my children and some times I still have them.  They will again be little children in my dreams and I am totally afraid for their safety. The dreams seem so real.  When I awaken, I wonder why I still dream such dreams as this when obviously they are all grown up now.  As they grew, I continually tried to stay one step ahead of them protecting them from harm.  I think you're concerned, because you love your son so much and I would feel the same way.  It is up to parents to protect our children from any possible harm.  You are a great dad!

driving is the mind frame i would have premonitions. i have not driven in over a year. i was quite freightened once, believing i was to have a head injury. i arrived at my friends house within minutes and ended up hitting my head on a shelf turning a corner. not serious and i was relieved. this was years ago and a good lesson. i dont play videogames but that is the mind where you hear, like you are removed from yourself, like in the backseat.

i have dreams that are right on and some that i believe help create certain situations. knowingly or unknowingly i believe we carry this throughout the day.

a friend once recomended B complex vitamin for remembering dreams. it really helped me beyond a doubt to recall dreams. i havent taken them in a long while.

I know my limitations, Avant Garde, I chose not to have children for two

very pertinent reasons:  I'm not patient, I'm highly sensitive to loud noise, and I need regular sleep. Which although I don't always get regular sleep and sometimes am up in the wee hours, I can make up for later.  Not true with small children.

So, my hat's off to you, for even making the attempt.  Having children is one thing, raising them well is a whole different matter.  The first any animal can reproduce, the second takes self-sacrifice and patience.

I'm not as patient as I'd like to be. There seems to be a curious balance between getting things done and allowing things to happen.

And btw, what are Luke and Sam going as for Halloween and have they done

their trick or treating yet, as it is the weekend preceding the actual holiday on Tuesday?   I saw a whole procession of little ones in the business district near our apartment yesterday, there was a sea of little princesses, fairies, and indeterminate costumes on kids from toddlers to pre-teens. The adults even wore costumes, some of them, and the merchants handed out candy.

It was very sweet to watch.

That is two sick kids you've had in the last month, Avant, the dream
might be metaphorical or it might be literal, referring to either Noah's fever or fire, but either way, you cannot be too careful and exercise too much caution. You're a very good father.

It's something that's been on my mind lately. Noah is sick right now with head and chest congestion, so the fire could be a symbol of a virus. I'm not chancing it.
