Good post
I've run out of words with which to oppose the
Iraq Occupation. The arguments are so obvious, but the American public doesn't want to listen at the moment. I fear that it's still 'Hammertime'...

How far from martial law are we?
Every step this Administraton has taken, legally, has been to curtial civil liberties, in the name of the War on Terror. There is a legitimate threat to national secuirty, but I have always maintained that we can still fight terorists within the existing framework of the judicial processs without becoming a fascist state. However, I am worried that if they have so little respect for the judicial/legislative process, what prevents electoral fraud as well?

I agree with Ivins on this matter, DL. We've already been compared to the
Nazis by several sources, but it hasn't caught on just yet. Hell, I've compared the GOP to Himmler's propaganda machine, called Bush a fascist several times, and likened the political climate of the U.S. to that of 1930's Germany.
This is a great post, DL. Very detailed and illuminating. The Bush administration is a criminal enterprise that has been given a free ride by the American Congress and a vote of confidence from the American people (2004 popular vote). If this nation follows so many others that have acheived social greatness and consumed itself with self-righteous fascism, it will not be because of people like you, Ivins, Tulley, Olbermann, and, I dare say, myself. There are so many others, but in an ocean, DL, a few drops of water go unnoticed.
Keep posting expositories like this, DL. Maybe you'll start a grassroots firestorm. One can hope...
