I'm in agreement with you on this.  Bring on obscurity!  Lately it's been difficult enough for me to just try to post every few days.  Sorry my recent bout of illness has kept me from replying sooner.

You were wise to select a general category like Everything Else if you'll be maintaining a single blog.  Journal and Opinion are also used as multi-purpose categories by many bloggers.

Sorry my illness has kept me away and kept me from replying sooner.

Hi NAP
Well that's good to know. If you have to blog several times a day to be in the Top 25, I'd rather not bother! Give me obscurity!!!

Thanks notapoet
As a basic member I only have one blog, but I notice that bloggers who have more than one do not post on each one every day. I am in Everything Else, so I don't have to stick to a single format, like Journal or Opinion.

Perseverance counts.  If you have something to say and stick with it, you can get there.  I firmly believe that.  I, personally, am gradually phasing out some blogs because I want to concentrate what I say on a few so as to increase my chances at being read.  I hope we both make it.

I would love to be in the Top 25
I was not complaining about being outside of the Top 50, just pleased that I am being read. Well, maybe one day I will get there!

Posting frequently helps a blog, as does catching the interest of the browsers with headlines.  But the simple fact of the matter is that when people browse through categories, rarely do they go past the 25 blogs listed on the first page.  That's one of the things that makes a popular category hard to crack.  Once you hang in there for a few days simply posting frequently tends to keep you there.  I've known bloggers to post and repost several times a day to maintain ranking.  It's a shame that talent and interesting topics aren't enough.

Home Page
I was surprised to see my blog featured on the Home page, listed as one of the most visited in the last 7 days. My blog is usually just outside the Top 50, but I do post every day.
