Julia, having grown up in CA, and then moved to the midwest,

TAPS, I love that finale.
A glorious new beginning after a glorious morning at the farmer's market!

Thank you, Pat B, for your comments.
That poor woman.  According to the obits, they had not been married long, just a few years.  Perhaps a second marriage for both.  Who knows?  But his life was gone in a flash.  Hard to comprehend.

Janes, it's "funny" (not the right word) how people cope with a crisis
this is scary, but true..each breath is a gift....

I am having a "change of season" for the firs time in 28 years,
having just moved from CA where it is basically the same year round. It is nice but brrrr, I'm so not used to the weather!!

JanesOpinion, I hope that on the day I die that it is a beautiful Saturday in October and that I spent the morning at The Farmer's Market.  Wouldn't that be a great finale.

Little story nuggets buried in the everyday details
in this post. Illogical things happen at a crisis -- like the woman calling to let the doctor know why her husband wasn't making the appointment.  She hasn't yet grasped the reality that he's gone.  Nice writing. :)
