You know, SlyCy, that he's trying to solidify that vast conservative base
of the GOP by attacking the dreaded and hated Clintons, but he needs to be careful so as not to alienate the millions of moderates and independents. Some polls may reflect the fleeting feelings of the public, but they're still somewhat accurate. And Bill Clinton's popularity today far exceeds that of the current president. There's a difference between looking like a good ole boy who made good and made a mistake than looking like a charlatan good ole boy who has always been rich making more than his fair share of mistakes.
