The MAM demographic has been the most powerful electoral block since
they decided the 1960 election, TAPS.  Piss off the moms, you lose.  Just like at home.

Saul_relative, I hadn't really thought of it before, but you are right about the middle-aged moms.

Right you are, Blanche. The Democrats have got to get cohesive and

coherent.  Allowing the Republicans to label them for the past two decades as ultra-liberals hijacking the Constitution doesn't help.  A recent poll stated that the Republicans are now leading in only one major category, the war on terrorism.  Strangely enough, national security and terrorism go hand in hand.  Our laxness with regard to our ports and aviation begs terrorists to devise a bigger and costlier version of 9/11.  Five years since the attacks and we have nothing but another money-squandering worthless bureaucratic department in our government not doing what it was set up to do -- protect the country against another attack.

Speaking of Cantwell, Blanche, I like her a lot.  I saw her when Larry King interviewed the women of Congress and was impressed with her.  To tell you the truth, I was impressed with the lot of them, but Cantwell stood out.  If this backward-assed country would entertain the idea, I say put her and Hillary together as a team, but, as I've often said, this country isn't ready for a woman president (if they say they are, generally they're only paying lip service).  It needs one, is begging for one, but isn't ready to elect one.  Sad, really.

Saul, good points, the Democrats have got to get a clearer message.

They've been the minority party, on the defensive for 8 years now, and seem to never have a plan.

Washington state senator Maria Cantwell is up for re-election and I thinkshe is smart in playing to the Republicans traditional card: national security.  It's their one ace in the hole, yet, they are so weak on that: in actuality with port security so lax, that a nuclear device was able to be smuggled through nearly 90% of the time in cargo holds of ships, and 7% of airplane cargo holds are inspected, while absurd harassing measures are taken against pasengers, its as much a sham as their privatizing social security and Medicare.  Idiots.
