Cheers Tony.

I forgot to mention the eating and. er.. the drinking. Anyway, yes I like this commune idea, the problem with parent and toddler groups is that they are run by well meaning people with a religious agenda and if my daughter is asked to colour in Josephs coat one more time I think I'll scream.

Mavro comes from years back when I was working in Greece, I apparently reminded people of some blue eyed tyrant call Mavros Michaelis (black Michael) who ruled The Mani peninsula about 200 years ago. It's got a bit more bite than Neil, I think.

Cheers I look forward to your next contribution.

Monsieur Mavro...
Sounds like one of the Marx Brothers, actually! How did the moniker come about, then? Anyway, to the blog itself! Yes, it's incredibly hard work looking after a kid all day, isn't it? That's true also for women as well as men, of course. I think the natural way for humans to do this is as a group. You imagine in the days of the cavemen and women that the younger men would be out hunting (in reality sitting on their arses most of the time making sexist comments), while the women did the work of maintaining the cave, gathering the nuts and berries, and of course, the hardest job of all, looking after the children. But you imagine there'd have been a big, sociable group of them all, all helping to look after little Johnny at the same time, and all the other kids, too. That's how it should be done. I hope you have joined the local mother-and-father-and-baby group? Well done on these valiant efforts. And, PS, kick the caffeine habit. Try binge-eating instead!
