I think I like this life better-no cell phones, no cable or sattelite tv, just games and books and walks in the garden to entertain us. It's good to have less things to distract me.

not really, but we somehow always get by. And yeah, when he made all that money he worked 70 hours and we NEVER SAW HIM. I was so lonely then. I get plenty of him now, and so do the kids, so it's worth living on a shoestring budget.

Justi I couldn't have believed as a child that I'd ever feel this safe.
That in itself is a miracle.

What a fantastic post!!!
You've certainly nailed the important things of life.  Money is nice, but well adjusted kids and close relationships and respect mean so much more.  Well done!

i am poor in wealth and rich in love with my family
i made bokoo bucks at my last big job - worked 70 hours a week / salary / never saw my kids / my hair was falling out / i weighed 2 pounds.  now i am a cook at a neighborhood bar and grille and loving it.  everything in life is a trade-off.  so what - do you have enough to pay the bills?

That is a lovely post. Every family that makes it to be 'normal' changes the world down the line. It is excellent.
