the prion is ...
...simply a prion is simply a protein string and a mutated gene, common to the genetic line (inherited, usually from the female I think) is how this protein grows and attacks the area of the brain that controls sleep....there's a few hundred years worth of data being collected from a family in Italy...and most of us get grumpy after only one or two days or no sleep...count your blessings.
