I got into it with a friend today about this issue:
Republican or Democrat isn't the issue. The issue is that the whole system is corrupt and we are but pawns in their game of big money. They have all the $$ and we allow them to dictate our lives by the whims of their business deals. I think the whole thing will have to burn down and be rebuilt to benefit you and I ever again. Sad, but so real. Dangerous? Scary? Yes. But so is the head-in-the-sand existence we all live now. We have to take back the power. Then we'll see real change and growth. Only then.
Good post.

Mystic, I think these people are hardened cynics who know exactly what
they're doing: throwing sand in the eyes of a credulous group of people. I've heard that Karl Rove and his band of advisors have cynically developed a technique of working the media, which they refer to as "working the ref". Meaning that if they kick up enough dust and fuss on one issue, the press willl be less likely to question them on another. So far, I have to say it's worked.
What liberal media? I think the press have not asked enough hard questions and have kowtowed to authority, in order to get access.
As for this, the Foley incident. I saw the transcripts on line. It was disgusting. The Republicans are trying to spin it as usual by saying it was taken out of context, but in what context, is it acceptable for a Senator to email a page, via government mail, and ask "are you wearing tighty whiteys or boxers".? Did I misunderstand something? I don't think so.
It's not the homosexuality that's the issue, it's the pedophilia and those are two separate issues. Check out Blogflogger's blog, that's where I learned that Foley was/is head of the Senate Committee on Child Safety or some rooty-tooty-freah-and-fruity People for the American way charader. Meantime, he's looknig to score with an underage page on the government dime. Sick, sick, sick.

I was horrified to learn of his pandering of fundamental Christians during the elections. He still caters to the hard-boiled, intolerant philosophy and it's very sad in a way.

i don't think you can take an honest look at one party and not see its mirrored image in the other. This particular issue seems to be one wrapped up tightly in the robes of christianity which
usually embraces the Republican party. I agree with you absolutely politics is the ugliest second only to war. Greed, and corruption abound....too much power , too much money!

While the majority of the blame must go to a snakeoil salesman for peddling faulty products, we must also assign some blame to those who buy it. Politics is a dirty game, our ugliest invention second only to war. As much as I would like to thumb my nose at the Republican Party, I can't with a clear conscience because Democrats are just as guilty of the same types of pandering.
