It boggles my mind that even through translation and given the span of time, Rumi’s poetry is so vivid  and the messages can easily be applied to a current day scenario.

Hi there Shams
I've read and enjoyed several recent pieces - well done. On the second poem about the frustration of these endless wars, and how do we stop them, the first thing is to think they are wrong. the second is to say they are wrong. the more people that do this, the more power that saying has. Eventually it should filter up to the leaders, even in non-democracies. We need the majority all over the world to be peace-loving. This can't be achieved, though, as long as people insist on territoriality, or as long as naked commerce drives mankind (particularly males) as it does now. Change our state of mind and bring in a new era of peaceful sharing, instead of greed and acquisition, which always seems to come at someone else's expense.
