I have trouble watching CSI during dinner, I'm glad you can get past that.

You do a great service
I would never be able to deal with it. Many should thank you

For the most part, I have.

That's funny you should say that. I remember once or twice wanting to run, but then I thought, "Who the hell is going to do this?" You just have to talk yourself down.

OFFBEATS
Not that I'm aware of. But, I've realized the past couple of years that crack is still being used prolifically. Sad.

Don't get me wrong. I still get nauseated sometimes. But, for the most part, I stay focused on what I have to do. If I stood back and thought, "Oh, gross. That must hurt," then I would get sick.

Well, maybe there is something to the thirteenth being unlucky.

I guess the full moon didn't help either. Hope you can avoid days like that in the future.

AVANT
Wow was he taking drugs? My son was born on Friday the 13th and I have always celebrated that day...of course looking back at some of his teenage years I can honestly say I used to wonder the same thing as you.....

I guess there would be a lot to get used to, Avant, but it's not something
anyone could do, with or without practice.

I'm not sure. But there seems to be an undue amount of energy in the air. I feel electified on such nights.

There is truth in your words. Belief is a very powerful thing. You don't let it get out of control in a negative way. This would prove allowing the latter to happen.

I wondered if it was the right job for me when I started. I knew I was queasy and couldn't handle a lot of blood. But, surprisingly enough, I got used to it.

Avant Gard
You are a special person. What do you attribute the excess to in that particular time? Do you believe the solar placement had a real effect that has not or would not happen otherwise? Strange! Bblessed.

avant-garde, I think that part of the problem with Friday the 13th is simply because so many people fear it and expect bad things to happen.   It does seem to be that people often get what they expect, good or bad.

Avant Garde, you're a braver man than I, anyway, Gunga Din, to do the

work you do.  I don't have the nerve for it, couldn't handle the responsibility of someone's life in my hands.

So, my hat is off to you, in the first place.  It takes a special kind of person to be a paramedic, and thank God there are those, like you, who can do it, otherwise, the world would be in dire straits.  (no worries about the typo.  It's odd, but my brain seems to insert homonyms when I'm typing fast.  I'll type "hear" instead of "here", "to" for "two" all the time).

My brother is a pediatrician. He swears by a new moon. He told me that all kinds of crazy stuff happened to him on a new moon.

I meant to write dire straits. Oh, well.

Yes, I believe there is a connection between a full moon and bizarre happenings. Perhaps, it was merely the full moon that stirred up things so for me that shift. I remember riding one after another in hot. It was unreal. That kind of stress really tires me out. You think about it: someone is in dire straights, and you are called. How much pressure can that be? Sometimes, it's fun. Other times, it's harrowing.

Faholo (and Avant), there must be something to the words "lunacy"
and "lunatic" after all, lol.

Avant Garde, thanks for your comments, I appreciate
you stopping in. I don't really know about Friday the 13th since nothing special that I can recall ever happened to me. However, Full Moon nights, now there is something strange in them. I worked in OB/GYN for several summers and those were strange, strange nights. Babies decided one after the other it was time to face the outside world. Also the nursing home where my brother lives is a wild, wild place on the night of a full moon in fact the craziness begins in the afternoon hours and continues through the night.  Keep writing and God bless you as you care for the sick and injured through your medical work. Keep writing,  faholo

Avant Garde, I looked at my Day Runner yesterday to schedule a dinner

and when it turned out that the only date available was Friday, Oct. 13th, I thought, "Hm, maybe another night would be better".  Just a little shiver of superstition.

I've heard that emergency rooms workers have told stories about waves of bizarre incidents, admissions on full moons, but never Friday the 13th specifically.  On the face, it seems absurd, like astrology, that something so illogical could be true, but sometimes experience belies logic.

I'll bet you are glad not to be working that night, just the same. No sense tempting fate.

Yes. When I heard it was coming, I went straight to my schedule. It was a relief, to state it mildly.
