You're last paragraph will stick in my head - especially the part about guiding our collective genius towards a better way.  It's amazing to me how quickly we humans can forget about our own resolve and inventiveness when faced with challanges.  We seem to have evolved into quite a lazy bunch of gorillas - myself included.

Let's hope we turn the right corner in the near future.

Wow. You have a phenomenal mind, then, don't you?

It's refreshing to read someone who writes from a viewpoint of both intelligence and knowledge on a subject no one really wants to touch. Did you see The Power of Nightmares broadcast on the BBC? It's a series of three one hour documentaries on (you probably guessed it even if you didn't see it) the way the government cultivates fear to keep Americans 'safe' -and in our place. We believe anything the media spoon feeds us. Check out my humor blog for a good clip of Jon Stewart roasting the media for slanting some stuff Clinton said.

Rarmcwa, I couldn't agree more that we need to get off the Big Oil

teat, but I am still shy of nuclear energy.  It's not just Chernbyl, I grew up with Hanford just up the river, and now there's serious cleanup problems.  What about ethanol?  Can't we do more with corn? Besides pop it?
