Marie-Claire--- If someone told me "there is not a single right answer," I
would infer that he meant a single right answer doesn't exist, but that parts of several answers must be combined to provide the completely right answer. Or, he might mean that no right answer exists. I'd ask for clarification.

Well, I suppose the
johns and janes could be marked with one figure wearing pants and one wearing a skirt... Guess not. Might confuse kilt wearers and girls wearing blue jeans.

Jazwolf,
I may have commented on this post before, but in my experience/line of work, we refer to men and women as ladies and gentlemen as more of a suggestion of how they should be, professional, courteous, attentive, respectful. I guess it's just my hope that they will take note of how I refer to them, and at least for the that short period of time, act accordingly. I also notice the difference in the men's and women's rooms in public establishments, and I have made the same comments, or had the same thoughts as you express here. Thanks. :)

I have a question for you ( seriously).
If you say there is not a single right answer. Does that mean all answers are wrong, or there is more than one possible correct answer or both or either? Just wondering.

good point perhaps I should post that poem I wrote...
It illustrates your point, pure coincidence since I wrote before I read this.
