Sorry but....

even if all ethnic backgrounds deserve respect (and the US is quite accomodating when it comes to the needs of non native speakers of English, just think of the opportunity for these people to take a driver's exam in their own language) and if there is a job that requires bilingual knowledge then that language should be learned, cause it presumes dealing with people whose first language is not English......the US is an English speaking country and all those who choose to live there should learn the language. Period.

There is a part of the Southern Tyrol which is Italian territory, but yet by a special statute all public signs are first in German, then in Ladin and only then in Italian....even if it's Italy. This is just wrong. The people who live there have Italian citizenship, have all the rights of Italian citizens but don't speak the language and don't even know the national anthem. Of course when applying for a job German is preferred over Italian. On the Italian territory, I find this very wrong, even if these ethnic minorities were there first. They should speak Italian like everyone else.

As an American who loves my country

I  don't get the logic of how we can be hated so terribly by other countries that want to come in and either become a part of our society or control all that we have. But I guess jealousy always wants what jealousy does not have. Perhaps it is the laziness to have a voice and form changes in some cases as well, so it's easier to come and leech and mooch off our generous land. Our borders are definitely too simple to get through.

whimsy,

am I surprised? No! Am I appalled? Yes. I am most appalled at what I see as the amazing indifference and/or apathy on the part of many Americans.

As a Canadian, I am just shaking my head at what I have for some time called the virtually unopposed Mexican invasion of your country...

What you mentioned presents an interesting........

possibility of a class action suit.........English is our language yet American born citizens can loe their jobs because of not having Spanish as a second language.......

Pathetic....
