cantey_1975 -- do you see that the restrictions are also Christian

in some cases.

strict fundamentalist religion throughout the world has similar restrictions.

some extreme fundamentalist Christian sects are very strict regarding women's activities.  using passages from the letters of Paul, such "women [should] keep silent in the churches" and "a woman having her head uncovered" and a woman should be a "keeper at home", and that one about women being basically subservient to their husbands.

difference is in the culture and exposure to the outside world.  Western culture has developed so much and become enlightened enough that these strictures that I have pointed out can be viewed as just for that time and place and that they are not viable in contemporary western society.  the liberties that the U.S. has provided has also pretty well dissipated the fascist aspect of Christianity, which aspect prevailed until the colonization of the North American
Continent, when it was just a small seed at best.  Until the Reformation and the freedoms of the colonies, sate religions held an iron grip on their believers.

but, in a sheltered, isolated environment, such as we find in the Middle East and Afghanistan, (akin to rural America perhaps?) religion can remain fundamentalist.

I would say that Islam will come to a point similar to Christianity.

This Islamo-fascism thing has spawned these commercials I see on TV, that make the grossest of misstatements.

such things only serve to divide the world, not unify it.  and division is disastrous.  this only serves to perpetuate mutual violence.  we don't need that.  we don't need perpetual violence.

I dont see the misinterpretation
Islam + Facism = obviously al Qaida. What else fuels them if not religious ideology? Taliban was clearly facist and ruled with an iron fist in the rules of Islam. Zero women's rights. Zero freedom of speech. Zero tolerance for homosexual  lifestyles. The internal climate of al Qaeda is what most Americans would consider grim and oppressive. There is no sense of compassion or mercy toward anything or anyone. Rather, there is only strict adherence to the Koran. The mindset of these men is almost inhuman, and their rules of behavior and customs are pathologically strict and unforgiving:

“Members are not allowed to make sexual remarks about women or tell an off color joke. They should speak only when necessary. Religion is not to be discussed. Never express admiration for any object belonging to a terrorist. This will compel him to give it to you as a gesture of hospitality. He will then only be able to reclaim the object through your sudden demise. Making glib or flippant remarks when mentioning the Koran or the Prophet is prohibited. Members are not allowed to wear anything that has any significance, such as a cross or the Star of David. Never blow your nose in the presence of a member of al Qaeda, this is a grievous insult. Do not squeeze hands when shaking; it is a sign of aggression. Terrorists must squat when urinating; it is a sign of disrespect. Never take pictures without permission. Above all, never take photos of women, the infirm, or the elderly. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in any Islamic country. It shows disrespect for the teachings of the Prophet. Never gaze at a woman, even in passing. Never gaze at a man, not even in passing. A member of al Qaeda might assume you are gay, and all gays are an abomination before Allah. Never point the soles of your feet at a host. It represents an implied threat. Never violate the Holy Day of Friday by loud and imperious behavior. Never read a book with a lurid title or a magazine with lewd content.”- Al Qaeda: Brotherhood of Terror, prologue xxiii.

if this is not facism I don't know what is.
