What a moving picture. I love to see the colors descend and change, then fall.

TAPS

You know, it is the amount of sugar content that turns the leaves a brilliant red. The sweetgums, sourgums, sourwoods, and maples are all full of sugar. I love to watch them slowly turn.

I was thinking 'tallow tree' also. Perhaps even a bradford pear. The leaves look strangely familiar.

Yes it is a blessing to see the trees in all their splendor. You have such a nice way with words...

I love the seasons of nature, because no matter what - world wars, world famines, disease, you name - Mother Nature is not concerned. She lives in the moment and each and every member of her family does exactly what they are supposed to do - just be.

Avant-garde, I googled sourgum after you mentioned them in comment to me.  It said something abut the tupelo.  I am not familiar with these.  Around here, I just love the sweetgum trees.  They turn every fall color imaginable and all on the same tree.  They are already beginning to turn and they sure turn my head..  This is my favorite time of year.

but I do look forward to my annual fall visit to our head office about 200 miles north, where ALL the colors are evident and brilliant....it's a photographer's heaven...

Nobody paints like God. I love even the summer greens, a million of them it seems and all blend not a mismatch in the bunch. So beautiful. You make a pretty story out of any ordinary thing. That is writing.
