- Go to The 17 Success Principles: Self-Discipline
I love reading self-help books, it gives me the illusion that I am actually
doing something... I tell myself I will spring into action later. I have procrastinated for years doing just that, reading great inspiring people. Little do they know, I am still thinking about their great ideas! Honestly, how many of us actually change as a result of a book, not many, if any. Book reading is a tiny step towards change, a shift in attitude may be, life experience has real transforming power. The main impetus for change is actual suffering, I say that humans learn the hard way mainly. We learn very little from other people's wisdom, just a tiny fraction of what we know. Books do not transform character, attitude does.

Napoleon was a realist and his saying has weight. For example when he says cling only to the objective in total exclusion of the negative, because it is opposite magnetism. likes attract and not repel. Somehow just thinking you give power to the -ve energy that go weakening the positive. That is the only law to succumbing in failure.

Self discipline is a tough one – so many things around (and within) us to distract us or obscure our vision.
