I have been to Alaska...
And seen the permafrost. Permafrost is a misleading term. When the ground has frost down here, it look just like it sounds, ground that is frosty. The perma frost is a layer of solid ice that varies in thickness, the stuff we saw was easily 15 to 20 feet thick, consider the size of the state, and that is alot of ice! Methane, deadly in itself is also a powerful greenhouse gas. Now, about thos nude photos.....

I agree Offbeat...it's strange that after the horrible hurricane season
We had last year, we haven't had one yet this year. Sept 10th is the peak of the season. It's confusing.

Darkmuser...I'm praying that there are scientists somewhere who
Are studying all these reports and trying their damnedest to come up with some solutions.

Whacky...it scares me too---the ice is melting all over this planet
And there's nothing we can do about it.

I'm sure we do Offbeat...the natural disasters we're having
Are much, much worse than in the past. Hurricane Ioke traveled 5000 miles over 18 days - it was a Cat 4 hurricane for 8 of those days. We've never had anything like that occur before.

Well... Here are some thoughts
- Does anyone know what will happen when the ice all finally melts? How will it affect our planet?
- Is there any way to filter the methane gas so it isn't harmful?
- What will happen if we can't stop Global Warming?
- How long do you think it will be before we see some catastrophic results of this?
1. The ocean levels will rise, with the influx of fresh water there will be a sharp decrease in the salination of said oceans. We are already starting to see the affects and effects of this process.
2. Sorry, I don't know, or even have a guess to that one.
3. Did you see the movie The Day After Tomorrow? We're headed that way now, already the oceans have lost almost 20% of the salination levels needed to maintain a healthy marine environment. Sorry, lost the website for this information or I'd post it.
4. We already are seeing some catastrophic results. Last Hurricane Season saw a first in recorded meterological history. All the names in the list were used and we started into the Greek Alphabet. We'll also start to see an increase in volcanic activity and tsunamis. Hate to break it to everyone, but anything we may try now to stop this is like putting a band aid on a wound that requires stitches.
Wow, that's depressing. O.o

Thanks A and B...it's actually 2 separate but similar newspaper
Articles that say basically the same thing: the snow in the Swiss Alps is melting....the snow in Alaska is melting.

I agree Tanga...the most imminent danger seems to be
That the Permafrost is melting. We need to stop that at once! But how???
I pray there are some scientists somewhere working on the answers.

I shiver to think about the catastrophic results!

I couldn't even guess how long before it happens, Passion. If you know these answers, I hope you'll share.

I think that resources
should be pooled and instead of worrying what is happening in a local community let the goal be on saving global humanity and then we can return to our personal goals. I am not wise enough to have any answers to your questions.
