I also saw something on Discovery Health Network featuring, among other cases, a young woman who stubbornly believed she had an insulinoma (a tumor of the pancreas which produces excess insulin in addition to the insulin produced by normal pancreatic tissue). The docs were never able to find an insulinoma, and although they didn't have any evidence of either factitious disorder or an insulinoma, they suspected that she was secretly injecting herself with insulin (or having someone do that to her), which would cause her blood sugar to drop so rapidly.

I saw a documentary about a mother
who insisted her child was hyperactive, when he really wasn't. She got him all kinds of pills, and he had to be on the med all the time. It was fascinating.
